Azerbaijan to launch HDTV in 2012

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies plans to launch HDTV and HD Radio in Baku and on Absheron Peninsula, deputy minister of Communications and Information Technologies Iltimas Mammadov told reporters on Friday.

He said first of all the Ministry is supposed to provide broadcasting to Public Television due to upcoming Eurovision 2012 song contest t be held in Azerbaijan in May. Then, based on appeals and talks, other channels will also be able to broadcast HD, he told.
