The traditional meeting with Azerbaijan’s medal winners at the First European Games was held at the country’s National Olympic Committee (NOC) June 16.
The event was attended by NOC Vice President Khazar Isayev and head of Azerbaijani delegation at the European Games Konul Nurullayeva.
NOC representatives awarded the gold medal winner in women’s wrestling Maria Stadnyk, bronze medal winner in women’s wrestling Natalya Sinishin and the members of the national team in gymnastics Oleg Stepko, Peter Pakhnyuk and Eldar Safarov.
Addressing the ceremony, Khazar Isayev expressed confidence that Azerbaijan will win even more medals in the coming days.
The European Games that kicked off in Baku June 12, will last till June 28. There is a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports.
More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe will be representing their nations over 17 days of competition. Baku was awarded the games by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in December 2012.
