Free navigation system to be available

Baku 2015 tourists will be able to use a new navigation system during their stay in Baku and not get lost.

As the Land of Fire completes preparations to host the inaugural European Games, an online navigation system of Azerbaijan, Turkey and Georgia has been successfully created upon the request of the Culture and Tourism Ministry. The navigation system is available atwww.gomap.az.

During the presentation dedicated to the new online navigation system, Khagani Nasibov, the project Manager of the "S?NAM" company that created the system, said the information about the city is now also included in the navigator; for instance: phone numbers, e-addresses, pictures and other information will be available to users.

Any route from one destination to another can be easily found due to the new navigation system.

Nasibov also stressed that the GPS navigation system has been created on the base of Gomap map. However, this system only works in the offline mode.

Baku 2015 is the first-ever European Games, an exciting and innovative multi-sport event for the continent that will take place in June 12-28, 2015.

There will be a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports. More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe will be representing their nations over 17 days of competition.

Baku was awarded the Games by the European Olympic Committees in December 2012.

The electronic map gomap.az is one of the first resources in the South Caucasus and Central Asia, established on the basis of cloud technologies.

Azerbaijan gomap.az covers 70 cities, 4,530 settlements, 3,300 historical and cultural monuments, 670,000 buildings and structures, 47 000 km of roads (including traffic rules and road signs), 23,770 kilometers of forests and green areas.
