Azerbaijan was a great host of the Eurovision Festival and I am pretty sure that European Games will have huge success also, Hungarian expert Levente Kozma told Trend April 30.
He said that European Games to be held in Baku have a big importance for the country in terms of economy as well.
He went on to add that Azerbaijani-Hungarian relations are getting better and better. Kozma said that under the prime ministership of Peter Medgyessy in 2002, Hungary started its new Asia policy opening to the East, which aimed to have relations not only with European Union, but with countries on the Eastern Side of Europe, as well as including Azerbaijan.
Since then, each one of Hungarian governments has followed the first steps made by former Prime Minister Medgyessy, according to Kozma.
“Hungary is putting emphasis to cooperation in energy sector, because Hungary is very much dependent on energy from Russia and we would like to diversify this dependence, we would like to have more and more relations with Azerbaijan in terms of energy,” he said.
The expert said that the two countries also cooperate in culture and sports.
“Hungarian people want to approach more to Azerbaijan and Azerbaijani people.”
The trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Hungary in January-February 2015 amounted to $2.881 million, which is 1.8 times less than the same period last year, according to the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan.
Baku 2015 is the first-ever European Games, an exciting and innovative multi-sport event for the continent which will take place on June 12-28, 2015.

Baku was awarded the games by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in December 2012.
