International Paralympic Committee hails sports development in Azerbaijan

“The care President of Azerbaijan shows to sports development in the country brings positive results. This indicator as well as sports development cooperation among Ministries of Health, Youth and Sport, Education, Labor and Social Protection of Population can be an example for other countries,” Ogtay Asadov, Chairman of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan, said at a meeting with visiting Philip Craven, President of the International Paralympic Committee.

Ogtay Asadov told of the progress achieved in the country to develop Paralympic sports. He pointed out Azerbaijan scores more successes in international competitions due to the government's and Azerbaijani Leader's attention.

Craven noted Ilham Aliyev's staying on in office of the President of the National Olympic Committee after being elected President of Azerbaijan is an indicator of care for sports in the country.

He noted the International Paralympic Committee conferred a Paralympic Honor medal to President of Azerbaijan for his contribution to development of Paralympic movement and sports in Azerbaijan. Craven asked MM Speaker to present a medal to the Head of State.
