Azerbaijani woman judo fighter becomes world champion

The first day of the world paralympic judo championship in Antalya, Turkey, has marked success for Azerbaijan which grabbed three medals, including one gold.

Afag Sultanova came out on top in the women's 57kg weight category, while Natig Novruzzade and Rovshan Safarov won bronzes in the 73kg and 81kg divisions respectively.

Saturday will see three more Azeri fighters in action.

Azerbaijan's coaches pin great hopes on Ilham Zakiyev, two-time Paralympics champion, who will bid in the men's +100kg class.

The Antalya tournament is a first qualifying event for the 2012 Summer Paralympic Games in London.
