Nabucco is project which meets both commercial and geostrategic interests of Azerbaijan: political expert

“Nabucco project was to be signed and it is realized. Azerbaijan will not pay anything for the construction of this route. There are different sources of funds. I believe that Azerbaijan is on the right track. We have our own vital interests,” he said.

Interests in Azerbaijan show that the gas, which is a major resource in our country, should be sold let it be via southern, northern, eastern or western route. The main thing is that gas will be exported and Azerbaijan will benefit. Political interests may stand behind it but they should not take precedence over the interests of the countries that benefit from the project,” he said.

“I am convinced that this is a purely commercial project, which is required for all those countries that are on his route. The fact that the project bypasses Russia does not mean that it is aimed against Russia. Azerbaijan and Russia have other  projects. So I think that this agreement must be signed given geopolitical and geostrategic interests,” Sadigov said.  

“But the implementation will take much time and the countries that will participate in the project must be specified,” he said.
