Physicians for Human Rights appeals to President Aliyev on Ali Insanov

President of the Physicians for Human Rights (PHR) Holly G. Atkinson appealed to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on behalf of his organization.

In the appeal, Atkinson asks for taking care of Insanov's health and holding impartial court procedure. He hopes Ali Insanov will be released at the end of the court procedure. The copies of the appeal have been sent to Azerbaijani ambassador to the US Yashar Aliyev and the US ambassador to Azerbaijan Anne Derse, lawyer for former Health Minister Ali Insanov told the APA.

Azerbaijani Court of Grave Crimes will start trial of former Health Minister Ali Insanov, Health Ministry officers Akif Maharramov, Eldar Rzayev, Haji Aliyev, Shovgi Jafarov, Alexander Umnyashkin, Vekil Abbasov, Fakhraddin Abbasov, Parviz Kazimov and Anar Namazov on Thursday. They face charges on Article 179.3.2 (embezzlement), 306.2 (not obeying court's decision), 308 (abuse of power), 311 (bribery) of the Criminal Code.
