Member of Swedish Parliament's foreign relations commission, and Christian- Democrat Party deputy Holger Gustafsson addressed to Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad asking to release Abbas Lisani, activist for Iranian Azerbaijani rights.

Lisani's rights Defence Committee member Nergiz Nedai told APA the appeal says that Lisani undergoes tortures, and has health problems. He needs a cure. Committee member noted the detention of political prisoners in the same place with non-political ones is one of Iranian way to impose pressures on them.

"Abbas Lisani is being detained in a very small, one-man cell with temperature -10 degree at nights with no heating system. That's why we all are concerned over his health," she stated.

Rugeyya Lisani, his wife, told APA that the government hasn't taken a step towards the fulfillment of his requirements. She said Abbas Lisani's health has been deteriorated.

"My husband's detention is very dangerous for his life. We demand to release him and ask international organizations for support. Abbas hasn't violated Iranian laws. He acts within the law. He demands the government to ensure national rights of Iranian Azerbaijanis by the constitution," he stated.
