Radja maintains full point lead

Azerbaijan's grandmaster Teymur Rajabov consolidated his position at the top of the Corus Chess Tournament 2007 in Wijk aan Zee with a relaxed draw against Ukraine's Ruslan Ponomariov.

He actually got a slight pull and the better pawn structure, but with the way things going his way in this event, he decided not to take risks, and settled for a split point.

In the final position after black's only reasonable try 17…Rc7 there could have followed 18.Qxe8 Rfxe8 19.Rd6 Be2 (bad is 19…Bb7 20.Nxa7 Bxg2 21.Nxd8 Rxd8 22.Rxb6 where white's a-pawn is dangerous) 20.Rd2 Bb5 21.Nd8 and white could have played on.
