Gang member accuses Haji Mammadov in lying

Azerbaijan's Court of Grave Crimes today continued the trial of the gang led by Haji Mammadov, former high ranking official of the Interior Ministry Crime Investigation Department.

26 members of the gang stand trial presided by judge Ali Seyfaliyev.

Defendant Sidek Abdulvahabov answered the questions of public prosecutors on several burglaries and carjacking. He also said Haji Mammadov offered breaking people's artist Afag Malikova's house, noting that he did not get the robbed jewelry. Abdulvahabov also admitted Mammadov's role in the kidnapping of businessman Nazim Pashayev and his driver Namig Abbasov. He noted Haji also ordered the kidnapping of Elshan Hasanov.

"Mammadov lied to the trial saying Shirkan Albiyev organized this kidnapping. Mammadov himself led the talks for that. Our gang got $50 000 of the gained $100 000," the defendant said.

Saying that he did not target the Azerbaijani people in his crimes, Abdulvahabov said a criminal is criminal no matter wherever he is.

The trial will continue today, APA reports.
