23 volcanoes in Azerbaijan included in list of natural monuments

The Ministry prepared the relevant documents on reserve status for the five mud volcanoes related to natural monuments. It also intends to raise this issue before the Cabinet Ministers, Sharg news agency informs.

Azerbaijan is numbering over 300 mud volcanoes totally. Following work on development of especially protected natural areas and creation of econetwork Azerbaijan has been created six national parks, two new state reserves, three state reserves and five available reserves' area was expanded.

Currently there are six parks, 13 state natural reserves and 21 state game reserves. Total area of especially protected natural areas in the country is 604,500 hectares or 8% of Azerbaijan's territory, including 1.5% of national parks.
