Ecology Ministry: "Baku Mayor's office uses sea-sand for construction and road building"

Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry Monitoring Office has monitored 955km-long beaches in Azerbaijani part of the Caspian Sea.

The Ministry press service told APA that monitoring concluded that condition in recreational sand area is not ecologically satisfactory.
Recreational zone in some beaches has turned bog area because of wastes thrown there.

20 of Nabran beaches are boggy. Some ingredients (Phenol, oil, heavy metals, SSAM etc.) of recreational area water are over the standard.

Only 6km of 24km-long beach in Sumgayit is suitable for swimming. The beach is not ready for the season. Tural Recreation center's waste water made 3.5 hectare territory boggy.

Bird bodies which is the remains of bird flu disease have not been removed the territory from Sumgayit's gardens to Haji Zeynalabdin Tagiyev settlement is unsuitable for swimming.

4000 sq km of Novkhany beaches near Baku are boggy as well.

1695m-long Nardaran beach was eroded by water and is unsuitable. Bacteriologic analyses show that sanitary index is 100 times the standard in central areas and 14 times in edges. 50% of Zugulba beach is under water. Some portion of Bilgah sanatorium (till sanatorium area) is under water.

Besides, by order of Baku Mayor's office, sea-sand was taken from the Bilgah territory as construction material and road building and, as a result, excavations were left in the shore and they were full with waste matters.

40-50% of Buzovna beaches is under water. 30% of Shikh beach is under water. In general, beaches in Azerbaijani part of the Caspian Sea are not ready for summer season.
