Russia has promised to send troops to North Korea in the event of a war with South Korea, Azernews reports.

Wee Song Lak, a member of the intelligence committee of the National Assembly and former Seoul Ambassador to the Russian Federation, stated that military cooperation between Pyongyang and Moscow will continue even after the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. The diplomat emphasized that both parties agreed to provide immediate military assistance if either is attacked, in accordance with their mutual defense pact.

The publication highlights that the involvement of North Korean soldiers in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict will require Russia to provide food supplies, significant financial guarantees, and a commitment to intervene if South Korea engages in hostilities.

Interestingly, this evolving alliance comes amidst growing concerns about regional stability in East Asia. The potential deployment of North Korean troops could further complicate diplomatic relations and heighten tensions not only with South Korea but also with other nations in the region, including Japan and the United States. As the geopolitical landscape shifts, the implications of this military cooperation could be significant for future conflicts and alliances in the area.
