The Azerbaijan Cultural Centre in Uzbekistan has organised an event dedicated to Western Azerbaijan, Azernews reports.
Salama Fataliyev gave an educational lecture on the cultural and literary heritage created by the Azerbaijani people in Western Azerbaijan.
It was brought to the attention of the participants that, as a result of the Armenian aggression, Azerbaijanis were expelled from Western Azerbaijan, and all the materials and cultural heritage were vandalised.
Thus, historical buildings, monuments, sanctuaries, and mosques built by Azerbaijanis were destroyed.
The Azerbaijan Cultural Centre in Uzbekistan will continue a series of lectures dedicated to Western Azerbaijan.
Based in Tashkent, the Centre plays a special role in Azerbaijani-Uzbek relations in the fields of culture, science, education, and tourism.
The Centre opened its doors on September 27, 2010. The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, attended the opening ceremony.
Since then, the Azerbaijan Cultural Centre has successfully implemented a number of projects, aimed at strengthening the ties between the two countries.
The Cultural Centre earlier presented a photo exhibition "Cultural Heritage and Monuments Created by the Azerbaijani People in Western Azerbaijan".
The photo exhibition reflected the historical and religious monuments of Azerbaijan in Yerevan, Goycha, Zangazur, Darelayaz, etc.
A documentary film, "Tree of Generations," was also screened as part of the event.
The project is dedicated to the theme of the return of Western Azerbaijanis to their native lands.
The film was produced by the Network of the Azerbaijani Journalists Public Association. The film's screenwriter is Ayaz Mirzaev, and producer Elnur Niftaliev.
