CEC ratified new staff of 50 constituencies

11 March 2006 [10:46] - TODAY.AZ
The Central Election Commission (CEC) held its next sitting today.

As APA reports, the protocol of the CEC 4 March sitting was confirmed at the sitting. The discussions focused on forming staffs of 50 constituencies after that. As the CEC's staff has not been formed completely it was impossible to fully form the staffs of the constituencies.

Though the Electoral Code envisages that the constituencies should be composed of 9-member staff, it was decided to get 7-member staff. These staffs will be composed of three members of the Yeni Azerbaijan Party and two from each of non-party and parliamentary minority.

Deputy Chief of CEC Svetlana Gasimova introduced candidates from the YAP, CEC secretary Natiq Mammadov - candidates from non-party people and Tamam Jafarova - candidates from the parliamentary minority.

Informing about the complaints the CEC received, Mammadov said that three candidates applied for non-registration of their candidacies.

Mammadov added that the signature sheets presented by two of them Ramiz Aliyev, who ran for on Sumgayit ConEC 2 #42 and Nadir Rzayev, who ran for on Sumgayit-Absheron ConEC have been considered invalid.

The reason is that they presented the copy of the signature sheets they used during the 6 November parliamentary elections. Two of the signature sheets presented by Damir Gasimov (poet Damir Gadabayli), who ran for on Gadabey ConEC #103 were not in order. He re-applied to the CEC for signature collecting after the deadline.

So, the CEC dismissed these appeals and decisions of the constituencies remained in effect.
