The talks between Azerbaijan and Russia in the sphere of strategic partnership in the Caspian region are continued, Khalaf Khalafov, the Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister, said.

As Trend reports, he hopes on the positive result of talks in the future. "In compliance with the existing rules, Russia's permission is needed for passage of vessels of the Caspian Sea via the internal waters of Russia. There appeared some problems in connection with the passage of vessels belonging to the Caspian states to the Black sea. Other Caspian counties are also holding talks with Russia in this direction. At present the Caspian littoral countries try to find resolution to the problem," Khalafov underlined.

The Deputy FM noted that Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan were developing some new projects under the legal status of the Caspian. The bilateral agreements that Azerbaijan signed with Russia and Kazakhstan are estimated as first steps taken in the direction of definition of legal status. "From this aspect, the relations between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan in the sphere of Caspian status develop successfully. Cargo deliveries between the two countries, the cooperation in the energy sector, Kazakhstan's joining to the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) in future testify that the Azerbaijani-Kazakh relationships of strategic partnership get strengthened day by day," Khalafov stressed.
