Azerbaijan’s seismic active regions named

 Names of Azerbaijan’s regions of seismic activity were made public.

Head Director of Republican Seismological Service Center of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences Gurban Yetirmishli told APA that geophysical studies on profiles in the country showed that seismic activity was powerful in Balakan and Shamakhi regions: “The activity is still being observed in these regions. Seismic activity is being also observed in south region of Azerbaijan for active deep fault in Lerik.”

Yetirmishli said that at present, Kur lowland and the western part of Azerbaijan are relatively calm: “The quakes occurred in Iran have impact on the territory of Nakhchivan. But there is no a great activity in the Autonomous Republic, it is at the level of background here.”
