Great mugam singer, People's Artist Alim Gasimov was one of the first who listened the song 'When The Music Dies' performed by Azerbaijan’s entry for Eurovision Song Contest 2012, Sabina Babayeva. The first copy was sent to the famous singer.
After listening to the song, Gasimov performed an impromptu several compositions of mugam, in particular 'Bayati Shiraz' that would fit the motif of the song. They found their place in the song "When The Music Dies".
So, the song 'When The Music Dies' is synthesis of Azerbaijani folk music and the latest European trends. Azerbaijan’s national musical instruments (kamancha, Balaban, def and gaval) and a unique vocal mugham perfectly fit the song.
