"Armenia's defence ministry shows fear"

Head of the press service of the Ministry of Defence of Azerbaijan, Lieutenant-Colonel Eldar Sabiroglu made a statement in connection with the presence of bellicose statements by the Armenian side over the recent period.

"The well-grounded opinions voiced by the President, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on April 23 at a meeting at the Ministry of Defence, Defence Minister Safar Abiyev's report on the readiness of the army and other statements caused wide resonance not only in the region, but throughout the world," he believes .

According to Sabiroglu, it was a very important meeting, and the international experts also stand by this opinion.

"The result will undoubtedly be present. If Azerbaijan starts operations to liberate its territories, Armenia's defeat is inevitable. It will be possible due to providing army with modern weapons and heavy military equipment, the presence of high morale, the main thing - the unity of the President and the people," said the head of press service of the Defence Ministry.

"A question may arise. Why does the problem delay? The work done, Azerbaijan's efforts for the resolution of the conflict prove that there is no need to seek another reason. The only factor is that our country hoped the activity of the Minsk Group and other international institutions towards the peaceful solution to the conflict would produce results. Azerbaijan did not want bloodshed in the region again," said Sabiroglu.

According to him, this was the essence of President's speech at the meeting. "But as seen, Armenia and some known forces impede the realization of our peaceful policy. Is there any other way under the present circumstances? Of course, not," Sabiroglu believes.

He said that meeting showed weighty arguments about crafty and ugly Armenian disease. The Supreme Commander-in-Chief said the Azerbaijani lands were kept for long years under the occupation not based on any norm of international law and our cultural, religious and historic monuments were destroyed in all occupied lands, our mosques were ruined and historic exhibits were stolen from our museums by the Armenian vandals. The President said we couldn't endure such cruelty and injustice. We have to do so that we can liberate our lands by the military way any time," said the spokesperson of the ministry.

"If we look at the history of the war, we can see one truth. There are occasional cases in the history that the country at war fired on the holy places of other country and looted everything on its way. One of these few enormity cases is the Armenian vandalism and we faced with it in the end of 20th and in the beginning of 21st century. Armenian Defense Ministry's statement showed that Armenians were really in fear. Therefore they try hedge themselves with their stupid and lying ideas because their domestic situation also is bad," said Sabiroglu.

"I would like to finish quoting the chief of Armenian general staff Yuriy Khachaturov's statement issued by News Armenia several days ago. He said: "If there is constant number of draftees in 2004-2009, we will face with problems in 2010-2016 because the number of draftees will be reduced". I think no additional comments are needed here," Sabiroglu said.
