Members of the working group on Azerbaijan-Iran interparliamentary ties met Tuesday visiting Iranian counterparts.

Deputy chairman of the group Eldar Ibrahimov praised the current level of relationship between Azerbaijan and Iran. He said friendly relations between the two countries' leaders, as well as reciprocal visits contribute to boosting bilateral cooperation.

Ibrahimov also briefed the Iranian MPs on the ongoing reforms in his country. Touching upon the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, he expressed discontent over the OSCE Minsk Group`s activity to settle the dispute.

He underlined "in spite of pressures, Turkey does not backtracks on its principled stance. But some neighbor countries continue to help Armenia."

He pointed out Azerbaijan will never agree with establishment of a second Armenian state on its soil.

“Azerbaijan`s army is capable of liberating its territories from Armenian occupation. But official Baku supports peaceful resolution of the conflict.”

Head of the Iranian parliamentary delegation Seyyid Kazim Mousavi, in turn, praised the “ongoing development process” in Azerbaijan.

On the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, he said his country considers the dispute should be settled on the basis of Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity.

“Iran in interested in increasing its efforts to contribute to resolving the conflict.”

The sides also stressed the necessity of intensifying reciprocal visits.
