
Azerbaijan's ambassador in France Elchin Amirbeyov addressed a colloquium on France`s economic cooperation with the Central Asia and Caucasus hosted at the Senate on Friday by UBIFrance, French Agency for International Business Development.
He briefed the participants about his country, which has huge energy reserves, intellectual potential and actively participates in all major regional projects.
Amirbeyov pointed out world`s developed countries are keen on investing in Azerbaijan, saying French companies TOTAL, Gas de France are cooperating with Azerbaijan in the energy sector while Societe Generale and BNP Paribas banks are involved in implementation of the projects in the non-oil sector.
The meeting was continued as break-out sessions.
“Azerbaijan is the rapidly growing economy,” Commercial Counselor at the French embassy in Baku Daniel Patat said at a “roundtable” on Caucasus`s economy.
He noted Azerbaijan economic situation in the country is stable despite the ongoing global economic crisis.
The colloquium was attended by officials of the Senate, representatives of French embassies in South Caucasus and Central Asia, French companies, scholars, journalists.
The bulletin published following the colloquium highlighted Azerbaijan`s economic potential, and progress achieved in the social sphere thanks to President Ilham Aliyev-led economic reforms.
