Azerbaijan's Defense Ministry issues official statement on large-scale shooting on contact line of Azerbaijani, Armenia troops - UPDATE

The statement says on Feb. 18 the Armenian armed forces fired at the Azerbaijani Army located in the Tapqaraqoyunlu village of Goranboy region, Gizil Oba and Gapanly villages of Terter region and Yusifjanli and Javashirli villages of Agdam region with automatic rifles and machine-guns.

As a result of large-scale firefight, soldiers of the Azerbaijani army - Mammadov Sahil Novruz oglu, 19, junior praporshik Farajov Royal Tesher oglu, 19, Rustamov David Sultanmuradovich, 19, were killed.

Soldier Adigezalov Elvin Murad oglu, 20, was injured.

The Azerbaijani troops answered their fire. The Armenian side has also suffered losses.

Armenian Armed Forces have violated ceasefire several times in various directions of front line which was followed by continued shootings on Feb. 18, Azerbaijani Defense Ministry Spokesperson Eldar Sabiroglu said.

He said uninterrupted shootings by Armenian Armed Forces have killed three soldiers and wounded one.

The Armenian side has also suffered losses not less than the Azerbaijani side, he added.

Two Azerbaijani soldiers were killed and three wounded as a result of the ceasefire violation on the contact line of the Armenian-Azerbaijani troops, a military source said.

The source said the Azerbaijani soldiers were shot by the Armenian snipers.

The soldiers are being identified.

Soldier of Azerbaijani Army Khayal Farajov was killed as a result of ceasefire violation by the Armenian armed forces in direction of Azerbaijan’s Aghdam region.

Farajov was called up for military service from Masalli region.

He was taken to hospital, but the doctors failed to save his life due to serious wounds.

Azerbaijani soldier Sahil Mammadov, who was wounded as a  result of the ceasefire violation, has died in hospital.

Shooting occurred in Borsunlu, Gapanli villages of Terter region, Tapgaragoyunlu village of Goranboy, former Gulchuluk sovkhoz of Aghdam region.

Azerbaijani soldier Sahil Mammadov was reportedly wounded after the Armenian troops violated ceasefire in Tapgaragoyunlu village of Goranboy. He has been taken to the military hospital.

Another Azerbaijani soldier Khayal Farajov was wounded in Aghdam.

The soldier, who has been drafted from Masalli, is in critical condition.
