Azerbaijani President trips to country's Agdash region - UPDATE

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev started a trip to country's Agdash region on Feb. 12.
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev laid a foundation stone for a regional power substation here.

President was told that a new 220/110 kV substation was scheduled to be built as part of the Asian Development Bank- funded 220 kV Power Transmission Enhancement Project.

The construction work, which started in early January, is to be completed within 15 months. The project will also see the construction of the 251 km long Mingachevir-Absheron 220 kV Transmission Line.

The implementing agencies are Azerbaijan's AZENKO and France's Areva companies.

President Aliyev put a time capsule into the foundation of the substation, and covered it with liquid concrete.

This event marked the end of President Ilham Aliyev's Agdash trip.

President Ilham Aliyev attended Friday a groundbreaking ceremony for a Central Regional Hospital here.

The 100-bed hospital will be constructed as part of the ongoing healthcare reforms in the country.

The hospital is planned to be put into operation in two years.

President Ilham Aliyev put a time capsule into the foundation of the hospital.

The Head of State congratulated medical staff.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attended an inauguration ceremony of a new water pipeline here as part of the Asian Development Bank-funded Urban water supply and sanitation project.

Under the project, Agdash's water supply and sanitation infrastructure will be completely improved.

The feasibility study for the project was prepared by the UK's Scott Wilson company and ADB.
The facilities here will be least-cost and optimally sized, involving the construction of well fields, pipes, reservoirs, chlorination facilities, waste stabilization ponds, sewers, and sewerage pumping stations.

ADB will cover 75% of the project's total cost while Government will contribute 25%.
A total of 35,000 people in Agdash will be provided with safe, reliable, and sustainable water supply services within 24 months.

President Ilham Aliyev pressed a button symbolizing the start of water supply.
He congratulated ceremony participants.

Academician Bakir Nabiyev thanked the Head of State on behalf of Agdash residents.

President Ilham Aliyev inaugurated Agdash Olympic and Sport Complex.

The Head of State cut the ribbon symbolizing the opening of the two-storey Complex and toured it.

The construction of the facility covering 5,5 hectares started in 2006.

The complex has been provided with the modern equipment.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has visited the musical school after Habil Aliyev as part of his Agdash trip.

The school, which occupies a total area of 5,500 square meters, has 36 classrooms and a 200-seat concert hall.

The President toured the school, and also had a talk with Habil Aliyev.

As a part of his trip to Agdash, President Aliyev has put flowers at a monument to the national leader in the Heydar Aliyev Park.

The Head of State inspected ongoing reconstruction and land improving work in the park.

The head of state will attend the official opening of Agdash Olympic Center and see reconstructive project of drinking water system of the Agdash city.

He will also get familiar with the facilities under construction.
