Azerbaijanis living in France held a protest action outside the Euronews office in Lyons on Dec. 11.

Editor-in-Chief of Euronews Peter Barabas admitted that he would not expect the Azerbaijani side to the display strong reaction against the televised report on Nagorno-Karabakh.

After Euronews broadcast report by Michael Raikhman "Nagorno-Karabakh - wind of change", which presented biased interpretation of events in the Karabakh war, the editor-in-chief received more than thousand protest letters from Azerbaijan, the editor-in-chief said at a meeting with a group of activists of Ireli Youth Public Union  at Euronews office in Lyons, the Chairman of the Union Jeyhun Osmanli said.

The meeting of four Azerbaijani activists with Barabas lasted for an hour, said Osmanli.

The Azerbaijani side expressed its protest against the violation of the principles of international law, the lack of the position of the Azerbaijani side and distortion of statistics in the report, Osmanli said.

He said the action started roughly at 11:00 France time (14:00 Baku time) and will last three hours. The protest action involves over 40 people mainly youth and students from 7 cities of France.

“I have received information that four of our activists have already been invited to the Euronews office to discuss their claims and requirements,” Osmanli said.

After the protest action young activists plan to march through the main streets of Lyons with a view to inform the city population of distorted truth in the biased report on the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict by Euronews TV channel, Osmanli said.

For this purpose, about 40 posters have been prepared in French and English languages calling Euronews leadership observe journalistic ethics while reporting about Azerbaijan and Armenian-occupied territories of Azerbaijan.
