The number of the Azerbaijani servicemen serving in International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan will be increased, sources in the government told said.

According to the source, taking into account the request of NATO and Afghanistan government, the related bodies are doing paperwork.
The necessary documents will be possibly submitted to the parliament soon.
It is reported that at the meeting of NATO defense ministers and ISAF defense ministers in Bratislava (Slovakia) last week Azerbaijan gave an oral agreement to increase its military contingent.
According to the agreement, NATO will assume the expenses of the personnel and material-technical provision.
Member of Azerbaijani parliament’s committee for security and defense Zahid Oruj said number of Azerbaijani peacekeepers in Afghanistan may be increased.
“Azerbaijan may increase its forces in Afghanistan. As far as I know, NATO and Afghanistan requested it. Such a proposal must be made by the head of state to the parliament,” he said.
