Azerbaijan's cooperation with Islamic umma [community] is one of priorities of the country's foreign policy, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov stated in a meeting with the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) Secretary General Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, the Foreign Ministry said.

The meeting was held as part of of the UN 64th General Assembly.
Mammadyarov appraised the UN and OIC resolutions on the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict supporting the sovereignty, territorial integrity and internationally recognized borders of Azerbaijan.
Ihsanoglu appreciated level of cooperation between Azerbaijan and OIC, its role in the dialogue of civilizations, as well as measures done by the country in this field.
Baku has been announced a Capital of the Islamic Culture 2009 for contribution and development of the Islamic world.
