Ruling New Azerbaijani Party regional office sets up election headquarters

Chairman of the Shamkir regional office Fakhraddin Valiyev said the number of municipalities was reduced from 57 to 49 after the merger of municipalities.

“An election headquarters of 15 people has been set up. The regional office is engaged in nominating candidates,” he said.

“In the last presidential election and the referendum, voters showed high turnout. We believe that we can achieve success in these municipal elections, too,” he said.

Azerbaijan will hold municipal elections in December 2009.
