Jan Lucas van Hoorn will be the Netherlands' first ambassador to Azerbaijan.

The embassy will be officially set up in the mid-October, the Netherlands' consulate to Azerbaijan said.
The Netherlands' foreign minister Maxime Verhagen initiated to set up the embassy.
The embassy will deal with energy cooperation and support Dutch businesses.
The Netherlands' ambassador will work in close contact with EU other ambassadors to Baku, as well as embassies in Tbilisi and Ankara.
Appointment of the ambassador has been already approved by Azerbaijan.
Previously Jan Lucas van Hoorn worked as director of South and Eastern Europe department of the Dutch Foreign Ministry.
Dutch Secretary General Ed Kronenbourg is expected to participate in the official opening ceremony of the embassy.
The Azerbaijani embassy to the Netherlands was set up in 2007. Ambassador is Fuad Iskenderov.
Trade turnover between Azerbaijan and the Netherlands totaled $17.8 million in January-April 2009.
