Azerbaijan’s opposition party launches pre-election headquarters

Azerbaijan National Independence Party (ANIP) has launched pre-election headquarters in connection with the upcoming municipal elections set for Dec. 2009, party spokesperson Ali Orujov said.
He said the pre-election headquarters will coordinate party’s activities in a period prior to the elections.

“The headquarters composes seven people,” he said.

Orujov said the list of candidates are being determined in party’s branches nationwide.

ANIP participated in the 2004 municipal elections as well. The number of municipalities was  reduced from 2,757 to 1,766 in Azerbaijan recently.
