13 June 2009 [08:37] - TODAY.AZ
Azerbaijani and French foreign ministries officials held consultations in Paris.
The department chief of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Rahman Mustafayev attended the talks from Azerbaijani side. He held some meetings in Paris to express protest against the French parliamentarian François Rochbloine’s visit to the territories of Azerbaijan occupied by Armenians and his thoughts against the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.

Spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Elkhan Polukhov told APA Mustafayev met with the chief of the Continental Europe Office of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of France Roland Galharague and expressed resolute protest of Azerbaijan against this visit. Galharague assured the Azerbaijani side that this visit didn’t reflect the position of France. “Galharague stated that France has univocal position and recognizes the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan”.

The Azerbaijani diplomat met with the Assistant Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of France Isabelle Dumont, who also said that her country recognized the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.

At the meeting with the head of the France-Azerbaijan Friendship Group of the French National Assembly Jean-Louis Dumont, Mustafayev said it was inadmissible to allow the visits to the occupied territories of Azerbaijan and added that it was outrage against the Azerbaijani legislation and damaged the France’s image in France. Dumont said he would deliver this note to his colleague.
