Turkish MP: Turkey ready to consider possible proposal on a role of the fourth co-chair in the OSCE Minsk Group

- How do you assess the current level of the Armenian-Turkish relations?

- Turkey is moving forward to becoming a major force in the region and the world. And as far as our strength is increasing in the region, responsibility is also increasing. Therefore, on this basis, Turkey is trying to achieve the strengthening of peace, tranquility and stability in the region. To do this, our country is trying to strengthen relations with all the neighbors.

But this does not oblige us to close our eyes to injustice. We are trying to eliminate unfairness and thus to create peace and stability in the region. And our relations with Armenia are evaluated on the basis of this approach. Turkish nation is not an enemy of any country, this is out of the question. But if there is injustice, we will try to resolve it.

- How can you assess the statements of the Armenian side that Turkey should not help the settlement of the Karabakh problem?

- Turkey intervenes in resolving any problems in the region, and will continue to intervene. Karabakh is not an alien problem to us. Today the reason for the closure of the Armenian-Turkish border is the occupation of Azerbaijani Karabakh by Armenians. For this reason, it is incorrect to say that Turkey should not intervene in the settlement of the Karabakh problem.

- In the light of what you actually said there, is it real that Turkey becomes the fourth co-chair of OSCE Minsk Group?

- Turkey is ready for all the tasks and roles that will help resolve the conflict. But the structure of the group and its objectives are defined. And Turkey is just for resolving the conflict. But we believe that the Minsk Group should make more efforts to resolve the Karabakh problem.

- And what happens if Turkey receives a proposal to enter this group?

- Our country will appreciate such a proposal.
