Turkish media reported that the "Road Map" singed between Ankara and Yerevan comprises 5 paragraphs. According to the document, Armenia must accept the Kars agreement signed between Turkey and USSR in 1921. A joint commission of historians must be set up to investigate Armenians' "genocide" claims and the third country can join the commission. The Armenia-Turkey borders will be opened and relevant documents will be signed to launch trade relations. Direct diplomatic relations will be established after Armenia and Turkey accredit their ambassadors to Georgia to Ankara and Yerevan mutually. Parliament will directly discuss the issues of the "road map" which must be confirmed by any legislative body. Although the document does not comprise the Karabakh issue, the two countries will normalize ties simultaneously with the resolution of the conflict.

Turkey closed borders with Armenia in 1993 shortly after Armenia occupied Azerbaijani lands.
