Turkish parliamentarians consider necessary to put events in Khojaly for discussion by world community

16 April 2009 [16:37] - TODAY.AZ
The Great National Assembly (parliament) of Turkey might discuss and recognize the events in Khojaly in 1992 as genocide only after this tragedy is recognized by the international community, said the Turkish deputies.
"Azerbaijani side has many proofs of the Khojaly genocide and I recommend to present them to the world community so that we could recognize it after", said deputy of the Turkish parliament from the oppositional Republican popular Party Shukru Elekdag in Baku Thursday.

"We want the Azerbaijani side to discuss these proofs", added he.

Deputy from the oppositional National Movement Party Atilla Kaya in turn also stressed the need to present the Khojaly genocide to the world community.

"Unfortunately, the world community does not know much about the Khojaly genocide. Therefore, it is first necessary to present this tragedy to the world community for the Turkish parliament to pass a decision about its recognition", announced Kaya.
