Sumato Energy purchases 600,000 oil barrels from Supsa port from Azerbaijan

SOCAR department of marketing and economic operations has declared Sumato Energy Group Limited (New Zealand) the purchaser of 600,000 Azeri Light oil barrels, according to the press service for SOCAR.
Oil will be shipped from Supsa port on March 13-14 of 2009.

Notably, the Baku-Supsa pipeline was commissioned on April 17 of 1999. From 1999 to 2005 the Baku-Supsa pipeline transported 50,000,000 tons of oil and through 10 months of 2006 5,600,000 tons.

Since that time the pipeline has been shutdown for repair. In August of 2008 oil pumping resumed. The pipeline extends to 837 kilometers. At the initial stage the pipeline capacity was 117,000 barrels per day and after modernization 145,000 barrels or 7,000,000 tons a year.
