The Baku Appellate Court considered the claim of Azadlyg newspaper correspondent Mirza Sakit, against the decision of the Narimanov district court.

The hearing was presided by judge Rizvan Safarov.
Thus, the Appellate Court upheld the decision of the Narimanov district court, dismissing Mirza Sakit's appeal due to the long-term release.
Notably, on December 29 of 2008 the judge of the Narimanov district Elshana Veliyev decided to dismiss Sakit's request about long-term release. The court explained the decision by saying that the journalist did not admit his guilt.
Notably, correspondent of the Azadlyg newspaper Mirza Sakit was arrested on June 23 of 2006. During the arrest the police found 10 grams of heroince on him after which the Court of Grave Crimes sentenced him to 3 years in prison. Currently the journalist has to serve about 6 months before the completion of the term.
