Iran against construction of pipeline via Kazakhstan to Azerbaijan by the Caspian Sea floor

"The pipeline from Kazakhstan to Azerbaijan may damage the ecology of the region and Iran is against any projects which may break the ecological balance of the Caspian Sea", reports Iranian Press TV channel with reference to the Minister. The official also noted that Russia is against the project.

Notably, the plan of construction of the pipeline via the Caspian Sea from Kazakhstan to Azerbaijan, envisioning its connection to the BTC pipeline, was actively supported by the United States during George Bush's administration.
