OSCE commissioner interested in the state of Armenians and Azerbaijanis, residing in Georgia

OSCE supreme commissioner on issues of national minorities Knut Vollebek is interested in the state of Armenians and Azerbaijanis, residing in Georgia.
But the main accent is still made on the state of the population, residing in conflict regions, said Knut Vollebek after the meeting with the parliamentary majority.

He said OSCE has projecvts in the regions of Samtskhe-Javakheti and Kvemo Kartli, which will continue. During the meeting they also discussed return of Meskhetian turks to Samtskhe-Javakheti and Kvemo Kartli. The visitor thanked the Georgian parliament for prolongation of the term of filling in applications to 6 months to Meskhetian Turjks.

Vollebek also familiarized Georgian law-makers with the results of his visit to Abkhazia, aimed at familiarization with the state of Georgian population in Gal region.

The most important, he considers, is to continue work of the OSCE mission in the conflict regions. According to Vollebek, the situation in the country shows that it is necessary to do everything possible to continue OSCE mission in Georgia.
