12 January 2009 [17:42] - TODAY.AZ
"No fatwa has been issued against deputy of Azerbaijani parliament Sabir Rustamkhanly", said one of the heads of the Nardaran community Meshedi Natig Kerimov.
He said that the announcement voiced by one of the Nardaran rersidents at the meeting in the village was just an outburst of his emotions.

"One of the participants said in an outburst of emotions about the so-called fatwa issued one of the Nardaran leaders against deputy Sabir Rustamkhanly. After the meeting, the leaders of the village called this person and held a conversation with them, warning him that such a thing can not happen again, otherwise, he will be banned to speak at the meetings and this person agreed with us.

At another meeting another young person said jokingly that Sabir Rustamkhanly should raise the number of his bodyguards. But this joke was not accepted by the meeting participants", said he.

As for the very procedure of the fatwa issuance, Kerimov considers that no one in Azerbaijan has a right to issue fatwa against others.
