Asim Mollazade: "Position of official Baku should not cause an undesirable reaction in Israel"

09 January 2009 [13:30] - TODAY.AZ
Undoubtedly, the ceasefire agreement was violated by Hamas organization, said chairman of the Democratic Reforms Party Asim Mollazade, speaking about the cause of the escalation of tensions in Gaza.

According to him the possible reason of the escalation of tensions in the region was the support of Hamas by definite forces beyond the region, that are interested in escalation of tensions and confrontation in the Near East.

Mollazade said that Israel's response could have been easily predicted by those who launched this action, though, certainly, victims about civilians is always a great disaster.

I think the world community must do everything possible to attain ceasefire. It is also important to warn the countries beyond the said region, especially Iran, by the world community that must prevent their interference in the said conflict, as it may cause a greater escalation.

He said as far as he knowns Israel was not against the creation of a Palestinian state and negotiated in this direction with Mahmud Abbas.

"Therefore, I think another reason of ceasefire violation in the region was the Hamas intention to prevent Mahmud Abbas to establish peace and create a Palestinian state. This organization is interested in existence of this conflict, in constant confrontation in the region, while the creation of a Palestinian state, which needs to be built, does not meet their plans".

Speaking about the position of official Baku, Mollazade said the following:

"This position of official Baku should not cause an undesirable position in Israel, which was negotiation on this issue. Azerbaijan's position is quite logical and aimed to stop bloodshed in the region and attain settlement of this conflict by way of talks under decisions of the UN Security Council, which have have many decades history", concluded the deputy.
