Ramzan Kadyrov: "Unfortunately, our relations are limited with shuttle visits of our compatriots to your country and existence of Azerbaijani diaspora in Grozny"

05 January 2009 [12:30] - TODAY.AZ
The relations between Chechen and Azerbaijani peoples have always been in the area of mutual sympathies, said president of Chechen Republic Ramzan Kadyrov.
"This is proven by the past two decades. Nevertheless, I would like to note that our relations are not on a high level. I mean that practical absence of any cultural and economic agreements. Unfortunately, our relations are limited with shuttle visits of our compatriots to your country and existence of Azerbaijani diaspora in Grozny, engaged in private entrepreneurship. We must look to the future. Our relations must pass to quite a new level of mutually profitable cooperation", said he.

Kadyrov said that as is known in the former Soviet Union oil sectors of Grozny and Baku have been the main economic donors of the large country. Today, there is no such a country on the map of the world, like there is no the oil refining industry of Chechnya, which was terminated in the result of two military campaigns.

"I think this sphere could have become an object of interest of the sides. The establishment of cultural exchanges between our peoples is no less important", said the Chechen President.

According to him, currently Chechnya is considered an investment attractive region. "The first brick in the future biggest plant to process fish and meat products in the North Caucasus has recently been laid in the Grozny suburb", he said and noted that enterprises of most countries took an interest in the construction and investment of Chechnya, but unfortunately, there were no representatives of the Azerbaijani business among them.

"This is our joint mistake, which must be eliminated in the nearest future. I think both sides will make interesting proposals".

As for the position of the President of Chechnya on the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict, he said Chechen people know what war is ad therefore, they do not support military conflicts.

"As for the situation around Nagorno Karabakh, I consider that "bad peace is better than good war". I think tensions should not be raised. The leaders of the two countries should often meet at the negotiation table. Sooner or later it will yield some fruits. It seems to be that each of the parties must find a compromised solution not to damage their citizens", noted Kadyrov.

Speaking about the opinion of some experts that Russia is interested in the unstable situation near the northern borders of Azerbaijan, so that to support the separatist moods in the northern regions of our country, the Chechen president announced:

"This is nonsense! I am sure that such experts do not feel any special sympathy towards Russia. There is such a saying "a good neighbor is better than remote relative". Russia does not support worsening of relations with Azerbaijan. This is proven by the historically established good neighbor relations between our countries. I think that strengthening of these relations will make our peoples closer friends", said Kadyrov.

In conclusion, he welcomed the whole people of Azerbaijan and wished comprehensive success in the development of our country and further strengthening of good neighbor relations.
