Tair Salakhov: "I consider the adoption of the law about the right to be nominated for the post of the president for more than twice to be fair and timely"

AzerTac has received a letter from popular artist, Hero of the Socialist Labor, laureate of the state premiums of the USSR and Azerbaijan Tair Salakhov.

The letter of the prominent master says: "The world has only two historically tested models of presidential government. In the United States the President, elected for four years, has no right to ballot for more than twice. There is no such restrictions in France.

I consider that the prohibition to be elected for more than twice contradicts to the principles of democratic elections. In real, this is a restriction of not the right of a separate person to be elected, but the right of people to elect.

The temporary restriction of the powers of the head of the state is quite a serious restriction. It ensures both the right of people for free expression of will and the right of a certain person to be freely elected as a president.

It should also be taken into account that under the Azerbaijani Constitution, the President has broad powers. The fulfillment of these powers requires high trust and support of people along with broad political experience and competence.

The provision opf conductions for the comprehensive use of these features and implementation of the strategic programs, aimed to develop the state, requires the review of regulations about the restrictions of presidential powers with two terms. Otherwise, if there is a person in the country, who is really able to contribute to the future development of the country, people will have to vote artificially for another candidacy, which is also both undemocratic and unfair.

I consider the adoption of the law on the right to be elected for more than twice to be fair and timely", concludes the artist.
