Azerbaijan Liberal-Democratic Party against cooperation with "pocket" opposition

07 November 2008 [15:41] - TODAY.AZ
The board of the Liberal-Democratic Party of Azerbaijan held a session on Friday, reports Day.Az with reference to the press service for the party.
As is reported the session considered prospects of creating new blocs by separate parties.

In his speech Fuad Aliyev said there are all conditions for the execution of opposition's idea to take part in municipal and parliamentary elections by a single front.

"Yet it is frustrating that the parties, that speak of cooperation and blocs, aim to split opposition. Calling themselves a leading opposition, these leaders are in fact "pocket" opposition, which wants to gain people's trust.

No party can state today that any party has no social basis. It is well known to  everyone how these "big" parties have become "leading". Moreover, no one have ever empowered someone to speak on behalf of opposition", said Aliyev.

He noted that real opposition powers should strive for a dialogue with powers. Unification of destructive opposition will give to the society nothing but a split.

By the end of the session, Aliyev resumed that it will be possible to speak about a single coalition when it includes the Civil Solidarity Party, Adalyat, Azadlyg, Social-Democratic Party of Azerbaijan, United Popular Front Party, Yurddash, National Independence Party, Tekkamul, Umid, Aydinlar, Civil Unification Party and Great Azerbaijan party.
