The issues related to Azerbaijan will be discussed at the meeting of the Monitoring Committee of Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) in Paris on November 18, at the meeting of the PACE Bureau in Madrid on November 27 and at the meeting of the Standing Committee on November 28. Co-rapporteur of the PACE Monitoring Committee Andres Herkel told APA that he would made report on Azerbaijan’s presidential elections at the meetings in Madrid and give information on the theme at the meeting in Paris. The parliamentarian said his report would not differ much from the initial report prepared by the international observers on the elections, added that the elections were technically organized well, but the elections did not consist of only the Election Day. The co-rapporteur also mentioned that the issue on the presidential elections in Azerbaijan would be included into the agenda of the January session of PACE.
Andres Herkel said the issue on appointing special rapporteur for political prisoners in Azerbaijan remained open and noted that he would touch on halting foreign radio stations in Azerbaijan at the meeting in Paris.
As regards the visit of the co-rapporteurs to Azerbaijan by the January session, Andres Herkel said it was not planned.
"Very likely the visit will not take place. We will surely visit Azerbaijan after the January session," he said.
