President of Azerbaijan visits country's southwest - UPDATED

Later on October 4 Ilham Aliyev arrived in Shirvan.

The head of the state and his wife visited Heydar Aliyev's memorial, erected on the central square of the city and put flowers to it.

The President was informed about the reconstruction of the square.

The head of the state familiarized with Heydar Aliyev's park in Shirvan, met there a group of educational workers and congratulated them with the Teachers' Day.

"The occupied Azerbaijani lands will be liberated in the result of an accurate policy", said President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev at a meeting with refugees from Khojavend, according to Novosti-Azerbaijan.

In the framework of the visit to the south-western region of the country on Saturday, the President of Azerbaijan visited a settlement for internally displaced persons from Khojavend, currently residing in Beylagan. A school for 360 seats as well as other social establishments were built in the settlement for IDP.

After getting familiar with the settlement, the head of the state met with residents. Aliyev said that in the result of a successful oil policy all problems of the country are being settled. "But we have no other serious problem except for the Karabakh conflict and we spare no efforts for its settlement", noted Aliyev.

He added that IDP will live in these conditions until the problem is settled. "But after liberation of the occupied lands, they will be provided with even better houses there", said the head of the state.

On the same day, the President attended the ceremony of gas supply to the Guzanly settlement of Aghdam.

A gas pipeline, extending to 10 kilometers was laid to Guzanly and different diameter gas lines extenting to 27 kilometers were laid in the same settlement.
384 flats are supplied with natural gas there. Among the subscribers are 174 internally displaced persons. Meters and Beko gas stoves are installed in all the gasified flats of the region.

Thus, Ilham Aliyev ended his visit to Aghdam.

Day.Az reports with reference to the official website of the President of Azerbaijan that additional funds will be allocated for reconstruction of internal roads, including the road, connnecting the Horadiz city to 4 villages, construction of a new building for the regional executive powers, reconstruction of houses and so on.

According to Novosti-Azerbaijan, the head of the state, speaking before the representatives of the regional public, informed about the works and reforms, conducted in all spheres. He also informed the public about the tasks, facing the government today.

As for the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict, I.Aliyev noted that the problem wll be settled only in the framework of the territorial integrity, sovereignty and norms of international law.

Day.Az reports with reference to AzerTac that gas supply to Horadiz city has been resumed.

President Ilham Aliyev familiarized with the scheme of gas supply to Aghdam, Aghdjabedi, Beylagan, Fizuli regions, including Horadiz.

Chairman of Azerigaz Alikhan Melikov said that the first stage of the project envisioned laying the gas pipeline extending to 69 kilometers. The gas distribution line of Horadiz will extend to 8000 meters. The gas pipeline, extending to 6,000 meters, has been laid so far. On the whole, it is planning to gasify 2050 houses. Now the natural gas is supplied to 300 houses.

Ilham Aliyev was informed about the situation with the overall gasification of the country. It was noted that this year 1,374,468 people get gas this year which is 83.6%. In 2013 the number of these subscribers will be increased to 1,484,622 people.

1,105,715 meters have been installed in the flats and houses of the subscribers. The head of the state lit the torch, signifying the resumption of gas supply to Horadiz.

Further Ilham Aliyev and his spouse Mehriban Aliyeva met with the residents, who highly evaluated the reforms, held in the country and works, carried out for improvement of the welfare of the population.
