In the light of events in Georgia, Azerbaijan realized that he will never be able to rely on the West and it should hope only for its own powers, said political scientist Mubariz Ahmedoghl commenting on the recent events in the region.
"Azerbaijan's policy can not be compared to the policy of Armenia or Georgia. Furthermore, all external factors and threats were taken into account while defining the current course. In the result, no one can blame the Azerbaijani leadership regarding its external policy", said the political scientist.

He voiced confidence that the events in the world and in the region will not influence or change this policy, which have its firm grounds.

"Considering the fact of Turkey, I think there is no big threat to our country, which may change Azerbaijan's policy. I admit certain corrections, but there will not be profound changes", he noted and added that the situation in Georgia was caused by the complete support to Saakashvili by the United States and the West in all senses, including the arrest of opposition leaders, shutdown of mass media or violation of human rights.

"In the light of events in Georgia, Azerbaijan realized that he will never be able to rely on the West and it should hope only for its own powers. The recent events in South Ossetia showed that Azerbaijan's policy is the only correct path. We do not ask either Russia or the West for anything. We are just holding our policy", concluded the political scientist.
