OSCE recommended to send 30 long term and 450 short term observers of presidential elections of Azerbaijan

25 July 2008 [13:07] - TODAY.AZ
OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights recommended to OSCE to send 30 long term and 450 short term observers of presidential elections to Azerbaijan, reports the Baku office of the OSCE, released on behalf of the officer leader Jose Luis Herrero.

The ambassador noted that ODIHR continues preparations for observation of presidential elections in Azerbaijan.

He reminded that in July OSCE ODIHR sent an assessment mission to Azerbaijan and released a report on results of the work.

"The Azerbaijani government has already announced that it will perceive the ODIHR observation mission in the elections positively", said Herrero.

At the same time, the head of the OSCE Baku office noted that the Parliamentary Assembly of this organization will not observe the presidential elections in Azerbaijan.

"OSCE PA president Joao Soarez explained that they pay special attention to parliamentary elections and they have no sufficient human resources for monitoring of all elections in the OSCE area", concluded he.
