The unsettled Karabakh conflict hampers flow of foreign investments into the Armenian economy, says the 2008 report of the human rights organization Freedom House on the transitive countries, released on June 24.

Freedom House also states that violations during the election promote rise of distrust of the community to the authorities and skeptical attitude to political and civil activity.
Close ties between the political and business officials hamper the development of democratic institutions in Armenia.
Freedom House also noted that the rise in the volume of foreign investments to Armenian economy is hampered by the unsettled Karabakh conflict, hindering trade diversification and Armenia's participation in regional programs.
