Preliminary investigation on criminal case of Sergey Strekalin, charged with knifing Azadlyg newspaper journalist Agil Halil, has been completed.

Day.Az reports with reference to the Institute for Reporters Freedom and Safety that the due information was provided by lawyer Elchin Sadikhov.
According to the lawyer, the victim should familiarize with the materials of the case and the written appeal has already been received in this sense.
"By the end of the week I will get acquainted with the materials of the case", said Sadikhov.
He noted that Strekalin is facing a new charge under article 320.1 (falsification, preparation or sale of official documents, state orders, seals, stamps, blanks or use of faked documents".
It should be noted that Azerbaijani prosecutor general's office has spread a statement that Sergey Strekalin was charged under articles 127.1 (causing deliberate harm to health, not dangerous for victim's life and not causing any negative consequences) and 234.1 (illegal preparation, production, purchase, storage, transportation, dispatch or sale of drugs, psychotropic substances or precursors) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.
In his testimonies Sergey Strekalin said he got acquainted with Agil Halil in 2005 near Ganjlik metro station, at the same time Agil had repeatedly had intimate relations with him in his house.
