"Azerbaijan has put the resolution on Nagorno Karabakh for voting in the UN General Assembly because of Kosovo issue".

The due opinion was voiced by Armenian Foreign Minister Vardan Oskanyan.
The Minister reminded that the issue of presentation of the resolution on Nagorno Karabakh has been on the agenda for already two years but the EU co-chairmen and countries managed to persuade Azerbaijan to remove it from the agenda. In the result of consultations with these countries Azerbaijan came to a conclusion that it would not be profitable for it to attain the adoption of the resolution by means of 20-25 Islamic countries and this variant would be a defeat.
"But this year they took into account the Kosovo precedent and such defeat and decided to present the resolution for voting to compensate for Armenia or Nagorno Karabakh's inspiration due to Kosovo precedent", the Foreign Minister noted.
He reminded the previously expressed official position of Armenia, which does not regard Kosovo as a precedent. The Minister noted that for Armenia the issue of self-determination is important but "we did not encourage or resist resolution of this issue in other countries, we are the self-determination as a principle.
"Yet, regardless of the resolution on Kosovo, we consider that the talks on the Karabakh conflict should continue and attain the observance of the right of Nagorno Karabakh people for self-determination", Vardan Oskanyan said.
